Thinking Inside the Box

There’s all this talk about how great it is thinking “outside the box”. Well, I give this customer create for thinking about it on the inside.

Korean War Era Twine

Usually the strange items we have at Epstein’s come with a story. Well, this Korean War era twine has no story because it’s been here so long no one remembers ever buying it. Harry must have snagged this in one of his early military surplus deals and its sat in a box upstairs in the [...]

KD Full Polish Combo Wrenches

What is it about tiny things that immediately make us want to treat them like babies? My first reaction upon seeing this full polish KD USA 12 point combination wrench was, “Awwww. Look at that little guy. How cute.” We’ve had two different sizes of tiny wrenches in our basement for our three years and [...]

Welcome back Sue!

Our bookkeeper Sue had a mild stroke about a week ago. Fortunately for her (and for us) it didn’t seem to faze her. The doctors, her family and everyone here at Epstein’s couldn’t keep her away from her desk, as she is back this week. Congrats Sue!

Walrus

The Watrous Walrus. Also, if anyone wants a cow head painted on a box, I’m pretty good at painting cow heads. Just saying.

Old Catalog Pic

Stayed up too late last night, so all I have energy for is to post this pic of old hunting jackets and pants.

Coming soonish

We are always working hard on coming up with cool new features to the website and I just thought I might share one that I’m particularly excited about. It’s not operational yet, but we are working on making an interactive map of the US with all of the current US manufacturers listed. You will be [...]

Armstrong & Fairmount OE Wrenches

My dad found these digging in the basement last week. They are left over from when Harry (my great-grandfather) was buying tools from the US military. This is a 5/8 x 9/16 Fairmount Open End Wrench. It could also be used as a dumbbell for children as they weigh one pound each. Have pretty much [...]

Wilde Headlight Tool

There are always stragglers at the ends of our deals. Tools that get over looked or put on the wrong shelf. This cute little guy is a perfect example. Wilde realized that they had missed sending us these and dropped them off personally. They have the very specific use of removing a spring from a [...]

L.A. County Riot Gear

I’d like to start this post by introducing you to my friend Chris Bell. Everyone say hi. (Hello.) Chris is looking for work. He lives in Kansas City, MO and he can do pretty much anything. His previous job was a preparator at the Kemper Museum where he put up walls, built pedestals, painted, handled [...]
