A sad story but these might be the last of the USA Crescent brand adjustable wrenches. Crescent made the announcement awhile ago that they were moving their wrenches overseas. This is the first sign of the USA one’s on the surplus market. Get them while they last. 10″ Crescent adjustable wrench for $15.00.

I was deeply saddened when I first noticed the Made in China Crescent wrenches in Lowes. I quickly scooped up a few extra chroma and black oxide ones in 6″ and 8″.
Anyway, speaking of Crescent, thanks for sending me a USA made 11/32 nut driver. What a surprise to find an American tool when you think you’ve orderd an import. Now THAT doesn’t happen every day.
Haven’t Crescent Wrenches been made overseas for several years now? Either way, doesn’t surprise me anymore. Bain Capital owns Apex Tools now and even before then, I thought Cooper Tools outsourced this brand long before.
The Crescent Adjustable Wrenches themselves were still being made here until about a year ago.
Just about everything else in the Crescent line has been shipped off shore. With Bain Capital as the new owners of the Cooper/Apex line, I think we can expect a thinning of the herd when it comes to brand names.
At least we still have Western Forge (Ideal) and Klein making adjustables in the USA.
Thanks for the information. My source of info is incorrect, but that is cool. I just hope that Xcelite isn’t next on the list, as to my knowledge that is last remaining company that produces USA made products completely, but then again, who knows if even that is true.
Sign of the times I suppose. Does anyone here know if Rigid still produces their adjustable wrenches in USA or have they been shipped overseas as well?
Ridgid adjustables are made by Western Forge.
Thanks Harry J Epstein for that, I did not know. I must say, Ideal sure has their hands in a large amount of companies.
Late this past fall, I saw the Proudly Made in Communist Red China, the Crescent Brand Adjustables wrenches.
WHAT SCRAP METAL QAULITY JUNK!
Cheaply made. No where close to the former Made in the United States of America Quality.
Same goes for the Irwin Tool Group’s Vise Grip Brand.
JUNK!
Wonder who the GSA/DOD is purchasing locking pliers from nowdays?
Any U.S. Company making in the U.S.?
As the saying goes, Buy American By Americans. Wilde Tool Company , Hiawatha, Kansas.
Old Gasser sir, I completely agree with you entirely. You appear to be a sharp, intelligent man that tells it as it is.
I too have seen PRC Crescent wrenches and I actually own a USA made Crescent wrench and the quality is eons apart. I literally felt as if with this PRC Crescent one accidental fall and this unit would snap in half.
As for Irwin, nothing except for their dies/taps which aren’t that great even are American made anymore.
If I absolutely must buy a Irwin brand product, I buy a vintage version on eBay as it has to be American made or I won’t buy it from that company.
I fully agree with statement junk though, as I do with buying from Wilde. Great products and all their products are American made.
